New New

You were "cooking" in that pot before bed

As of this picture, when I say Aria look at the camera and smile, you do!  You look so much like a kid to me in this picture!  And you will officially wear zip up jammies again.  It lessens the big kid factor a smidge and I'll take whatever I can get.

AND over the last few days, we've noticed that when we say "I love you" you answer with "I love you too."  It's one of my favorite things that you do of course.

Tonight when I was putting you to sleep, you were stalling.  On the fourth time I went in there, I said for the fourth time "Goodnight Aria.  I love you" and you surprised me by saying "Why?" and I said "That's a very long answer but mostly because you are my baby and perfect to me" (I thought that was a pretty good impromptu answer if I do say so myself) and then you said "When?" and I said "Always" (I was on a roll) and then you said "How?"  (It dawned on me that you were totally doing the 5 questions from school at this point skipping who and what I guess) So I said, "I can't explain it. I just do.  Now go to sleep.  Nice stalling." And then you said, "No mommy.  because" and I took the bait and said "Because what" and you said in a cute tone "Be-cause"

On the last day of the year either you went all philosophical on me or you were just reciting your favorite episode of Max and Ruby where Ruby's answer to everything Max says is BECAUSE.  Either way, it was adorable.

A Talk Talk Video about School

This is taken in a dark room, so it's more of a listen than a watch.  You and your brother were playing (hence the no glasses) and then he got distracted so you came in and sat on my lap in the "library" and for some reason the lights were off.  I didn't want to risk you getting distracted by your brother so I kept the lights off.  SO, this video is dark but the talking is awesome.  Enjoy.

Oh and real quick.

Asher "stole" your socks today while you two were playing and you ran into the room I was in and said

"Asher stole my socks." "Shannan get them back please."

I didn't even know you knew the word stole, but like I immediately said to you can't I please just be Mommy?  But I mean, great talking love.

Today

With the weather being cold and snowy, we have been staying inside and coming up with all kinds of fun ideas to keep busy.  The great thing is that you have been coming up with tons of good ideas all on your own:

You're an astronaut:

“This is my astronaut hat mommy”

The best part - after you put the pot on your head, you said "This is my astronaut hat mommy".  Love the talking.

Speaking of talking, you amaze me everyday with how well you are talking.  You had a bunch of tummy "issues" and you told me each time that you needed to go "Sit on the potty mommy" and that "My belly button hurts"   I LOVE that you are using whole sentences to verbalize your needs and feelings.  That is huge!  HUGE!

Other funny things you say:

When you walk into a room, you say "What's going on in here?"  (guessing you got that one at school).

And "I can't do it" (when asking you to wear something you absolutely refuse to wear)

Yesterday you were watching Lalaloopsy and there is part that one of the girls does something and then laughs and in the most sincerest tone you said to yourself, "That's not funny".

I'm trying to say no to you ONLY when you are doing something you shouldn't be doing because you are going through this phase (I really hope it's a phase) where you apologize for EVERYTHING. So that's not cool.  Hopefully, when I write your FOUR year old letter I can say that you don't do that anymore.

Speaking of FOUR, when we ask you how old you are going to be on your birthday you 70% of the time say FOUR and 30% of the time say Rapunzel (because that it the kind of party you have requested)

ANYWHO, other than all the awesome talking and being an astronaut (I ordered you a suit - don't tell yourself), you are loving to press the button on the camera  and reading again.  I LOVE that you are saying "Read books mommy?"

One last thing:  You were playing this new Dora game on the computer and at the end of the game you have to put the story in order and at first I thought that you were going to ask for help because you just kind of stared at the sorting cards.  But then you totally talked me through the whole thing, "First horsey. Then, cave. Then swim on water. Then go up the hill. Last, save the books"  I was EXTREMELY impressed.  Not only by your excellent talking but of your understanding of first, then, then, then, and last.  I mean I'm proud of you all the time but in that moment I was so proud of you.

Very cool.

Oh and you took this really cool self portrait (I hold the camera and you push the button):

Here is a video of our museum kid's area adventures:

Your First Friend Birthday Party

This past Sunday your little school friend Ashlei had her fifth birthday party at this inflatable party place called Jump and Fun and you were invited!  You had so much fun and would have totally played longer if that was an option.  You climbed  all the stuff without hesitation and even ate a good chunk of the cake.  We are going to go back with Dad.  He would love it there!  There were a few moments where you went off following your little friends and I got a taste of what is to come in the next few years when you go all independent.

This is just half the kids.  There were two sets of pictures with the birthday girl. They didn't want a bunch of  kids sitting on the floor.  I don't know why...

Seriously take 5 or 6.  Hence all the disinterested kids.
