Today you did these adorable things:

Picked up a rock off the ground. Stared at for waaaayyy too long and then showed me the rock and said rock followed by saying pocket. And then put it in your pocket. I didn't know you knew the word pocket or that you even had a pocket. I'm count "rock" "pocket" as a sentence.

Everyday at bedtime, I say "Aria bedtime, come on let's go ni-night" and then you run to your room and turn on your sound machine. In the mean time, I get you some milk and tell Dad to come say goodnight to you. He stands by the door where you precede to close the door in his face (expecting him to open it and make you laugh). Tonight, Dad said give me a kiss and you said muuuaaaah and gave him a kiss. BUT then you took the cuteness up a notch and preceded to give him TWO more (unprompted) kisses and a hug before saying "NIGHT" and closing the door. Now if that wasn't enough, you closed the door and then ran up to me and gave me an unprompted kiss too. It's the stuff moms and dads live for.

Well, you are sick! Vomiting, mild ear infection, diarrhea, fever, and general crabbiness. I would normally call this a milestone because you have never been sick like this before, but I'm not sure milestone is right. But I'm not going to talk about the sickness. I'm going to tell you about what happened early this morning (about 3am) in between changing your sheets and clothes for the third time.

You were all changed and I was rocking you. When all of a sudden, you threw up literally in my face and in my hair. After comforting (and changing...again) you, I went back to rocking you when you leaned forward and gave me a the sweetest little kiss and then dug your head into my neck. It instantly made me tear up a little (then and now) and I squeezed you back.

THEN. After realizing that you were NOT going back to sleep, I let Brutus come hang out with us in your room. As soon as he came in, you pet and squeezed him and then something awesome happened. You started to tell him about your day. In half Aria language and half English, you told him stuff that only you know mixed in with frog, duck, car, and truck, juice, clues, and water. And then you did the little arm dance that Elmo does and THEN started to point to your crib (the scene of all the throwing up) and telling him in your language about your unfortunate night. I swear anyone watching you would instantly come to the same conclusion. I think you are going to be like Dad and tell really good stories. This one was definitely captivating me.

Oh and your brother dropped Sophie and you gave it back to him. Usually you would ignore him/it so all in all it was a pretty awesome 24 hours. Minus the all the sickness and puke.

Jubs,

You and I had a fun (or as your mother would have me call it "cute") day today. It was filled with developmental milestones. You and I were playing with your Magnadoodle and you kept wanting me to draw for you. Normally, you would be amused with robots, dinosaurs, and armadas of Death Stars, Tie and X-Wing fighters. Today, however, my (limited) artistic inspiration had to take a back seat to yours. You made constant demands of trucks and cars, frogs and ducks, and faces (including your favorite eyes). I must have drawn fifty of each but any repetitive request you make paled in comparison to to joy I received at witnessing your mastery of the English language. Keep the requests coming my lovely daughter. I will gladly do anything you ask of me.

Love,

Dad
