Daddy Post

Dear Jedi Youngling Jub Jub,
Wow! What a month February has been for you. Week 1 you started standing on your own. At first it was only for a few seconds but now you can stand for as long as you want. I think the only reason you ever stop is to go for a toy or to dive into someone’s lap. Next, we started you down the road of good personal hygiene with your first toothbrush. Probably a good idea since those teeth keep budding. Then you got your lion walker in the mail. Even though he laughs like a moron he helps you Frankenstein-walk around the apartment. You haven’t quite master sitting on him and using your feet to drive forward. Still, it’s funny watching you push backwards until you hit a roadblock and give up. We began a new quest this month: screening all the Star Wars movies. I’ve perfectly plotted it out so we will watch one movie a weekend until your birthday. So far, we have New Hope and Empire covered and you thoughts on the dichotomy of good and evil in the movies are very insightful. I tried to point out how Darth Vader was one of the ultimate mythological icons to represent evil. You quickly replied, “goon-flanna” which anyone can see obviously translates to Vader’s internal battle between light and dark is merely symbolism of two sides of the same coin that reside within all of us. I think Mom’s favorite part about the whole situation is that we turned “gunja-gunja” snacks into “power snaps” when the movies are on. Your last major turn came three nights ago. You decided just standing around wasn’t enough anymore and you took your first three steps. I’m not talking about you holding on to our hands, the walls, or even Moron Lion. No! These were three steps without anyone’s help! Makes me glad the bookshelves are bolted down and we have rubber padding on all the sharp corners. I think you will be running by your birthday.
Love,
Jedi Master Dad
